Tender Mercies is proud to welcome Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval and the public to the opening of Slater Hall, its newest building for homeless adults with mental illness in Cincinnati’s Historic West End. A ceremonial ribbon will be cut following brief remarks, surrounded by project stakeholders and friends of Tender Mercies at 2:00 p.m. on March 12, 2024 on the site of Slater Hall, located at 898 W. Court Street. The opening of Slater Hall marks a significant step forward in Tender Mercies’ aggressive 10-year strategic plan to increase housing opportunities for their clients by building and renovating housing within Hamilton County.
Built over the course of approximately 18 months, the $13.5 million building is named for Mr. Edward James Slater, who, along with Randy LaFond and Fr. Chris Hall, founded Tender Mercies in 1985. The building includes 62 units of affordable housing. Amenities include private rooms and bathrooms, modern laundry facilities, 24/7/365 staff support, on-site services and case management.
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval will cut the ribbon following a short ceremony, after which guests are invited to tour Slater Hall and enjoy light refreshments. Opportunities to invest in the work of Tender Mercies through naming rights will be available, allowing friends and family of Tender Mercies to sustain the agency while honoring friends and loved ones.

Hosted by Ohio University alum and WCPO Anchor, Evan Millward.
